چکیده

Muon spin relaxation experiments have been performed in the pyrochlore iridate Pr2Ir2O7 for temperatures in the range 0.025– 250 K. Kubo-Toyabe relaxation functions are observed up to & 200 K, indicating static magnetism over this temperature range. The T → 0 static muon spin relaxation rate ∆(0) ≈ 8 μs implies a weak quasistatic moment (∼0.1μB). The temperature dependence of ∆ is highly non-mean-field-like, decreasing smoothly by orders of magnitude but remaining nonzero for T < Tf . The data rule out ordering of the full Pr CEF ground-state moment (3.0 μB) down to 0.025 K. The weak static magnetism is most likely due to hyperfine-enhanced Pr nuclear magnetism. The dynamic relaxation rate λ increases markedly below ∼20 K, probably due to slowing down of spin fluctuations in the spin-liquid state. At low temperatures λ is strong and temperature-independent, indicative of a high density of low-lying spin excitations as is common in frustrated antiferromagnets.

Metallic spin-liquid behavior of the geometrically frustrated Kondo lattice.

Strongly frustrated magnetism of the metallic pyrochlore oxide Pr2Ir2O7 has been revealed by single crystal study. While Pr 4f moments have an antiferromagnetic RKKY interaction energy scale of /T*/ = 20 K mediated by Ir 5d-conduction electrons, no magnetic long-range order is found except for partial spin freezing at 120 mK. Instead, the Kondo effect, including a lnT dependence in the resistiv...

Magnetism in the dilute Kondo lattice model

The one-dimensional dilute Kondo lattice model is investigated by means of bosonization for different dilution patterns of the array of impurity spins. The physical picture is very different if a commensurate or incommensurate doping of the impurity spins is considered. For the commensurate case, the obtained phase diagram is vertified using a non-Abelian density-matrix renormalization-group al...

HOW THE KONDO EFFECT CAN EXIST IN Gd INTERMETALLIC COMPOUNDS

Based on the crystal and magnetic structural properties of some Gd intermetallic compounds, it is shown that with increasing conduction electron concentration, Gd experiences electronic and magnetic instability, and that these behaviors point to the appearance of Kondo Lattice. We suggest that the conduction electrons have gained local character. It is shown that Kondo effect should be observed...

سیستمهای الکترونی همبسته قوی در شبکه‌های ناکام

We give an overview of recent work on charge degrees of freedom of strongly correlated electrons on geometrically frustrated lattices. Special attention is paid to the checkerboard lattice, i.e., the two-dimensional version of a pyrochlore lattice and to the kagomé lattice. For the checkerboard lattice it is shown that at half filling when spin degrees of freedom are neglected and at quarter f...

Frustrated magnetism in the S = 1 kagomé lattice BaNi3(OH)2(VO4)2.

Frustrated magnets with integer spin are predicted to have exotic physical properties including spin nematicity, yet few are known to exist. We report a new, frustrated S = 1 magnet, BaNi(3)(OH)(2)(VO(4))(2), which is the structural analogue of the mineral vesignieite. Magnetic frustration arises from a competition between ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic ordering leading to a glassy transit...
